TYPICALLY BRAZILIAN – BRAZIL 2013

Typically Brazilian is how we can describe the weather this morning, warm and wet to varying degrees throughout the 90 minutes of the first free practice session of the final race of the season.

The chequered flag also marked the end of Daniil Kvyat’s very brief 2013 F1 season. The GP3 champion elect replaced Jean-Eric Vergne for FP1 in Austin and here he got behind the wheel of Daniel Ricciardo’s STR8. To be on the safe side, he did his installation lap on full rain tyres, before switching to Intermediates.

Towards the end of the session it looked as though the Russian and French drivers might get a couple of laps in on slicks, but the track didn’t improve enough. Daniil ended up eighth fastest completing 17 laps, while Jev did 22 on his way to fourteenth.
