The positions on the time sheet – 15th for Daniel and 17th for Vergne – might not look much different to yesterday’s, but this morning’s free practice session was a more positive experience for Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Both drivers were much happier with the mechanical set-up on the cars and there are just a few tenths of a second to find to move up into the top ten, as the mid-field is as close as ever. The big question is can we find that in our data analysis before this afternoon’s qualifying session. Red Bull Racing dominated FP3, with Sebastian Vettel fastest ahead of Mark Webber. Third was Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes, in a session where checking tyres for graining and tackling qualifying simulations were the items on everyone’s agenda.
