F1 Esports: the Pro Draft

Here we go as the 2019 F1 Esports World Championship is underway! It’s time for the second phase of the season and the Pro Draft which takes place on 16 and 17 July at the GFinity Arena in London, home to all the events this season.

F1 Esports Pro Draft 2019 by Scuderia Toro Rosso

Started in 2017, the FI Esports Championship is already delivering record numbers in this its third year, with all ten Formula 1 teams taking part. A staggering 109,000 competitors from 156 different countries took part in the online Qualifying events. That’s a 65% increase over last year, with an incredible total of 1.4 million qualifying laps completed by gamers who did their utmost to qualify for the Pro Draft.

And now the time has come to attract the attention and hopefully get picked by one of the ten F1 teams. After further Playoff and Time-Trial stages, the field was whittled down to the best 36 drivers, who will go head to head in London on 16 July, in the hope of making it through to the final cut and become official drivers under contract to the official Formula 1 Esports teams.

They are divided into three groups of twelve, each one racing a Grand Prix weekend, made up of Free Practice, Qualifying and the Race, the latter run at half a real race distance. The first eight in each race will move forward to the second day which you can follow live on our Facebook page on 17 July, from 19h00 to 21h00 BST (20h00 to 22h00 CET.)

The Pro Draft 2019 challenge is approaching!

The full on F1 Esports Pro Draft takes place on 17 July: the 24 drivers who qualify on the first day will be joined by the drivers freed up by the teams after the 2018 season and others who can be invited by the organisation, on the basis that they have won other Esports events somewhere in the world. Then the team take turns to choose from this big pot.

As you know, we have already announced Patrik Holzmann and Cem Bolukbasi, whose efforts, along with those of Frederik Rasmussen, led to us coming second in the Constructors’ World Championship. Soon we will know who is joining them to form our roster of 3 official drivers to tackle the 2019 season Grands Prix in the F1 Esports Series, which takes place in September.
