After the almost hysterical anticipation of FP1 in Melbourne and the first race of the season, it’s fair to say that today’s first 90 minutes of practice for Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix was very much a case of business as usual.

In the Toro Rosso camp, the STR9s of Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniil Kvyat completed a total of 36 laps, 15 for the Frenchman and 21 for the Russian. Both men completed their relatively short Friday morning programme with no major worries, running only on the Hard Pirelli compound tyre. The drivers were reasonably happy with the behaviour of their cars, with Jev posting the sixth-fastest time and Daniil the fourteenth.

Some concerts and other celebratory events linked to this Grand Prix have been cancelled, because the whole nation is in mourning for the loss of the Malaysia Airlines plane. With this mind, our two drivers joined all their colleagues in sporting stickers in 2 languages on
